Students have a familiarity and facility with social networking sites that rivals most face‐to‐face social interaction. We’ll look at one teacher's success in implementing Facebook and other web tools in a Middle School Language Arts curriculum. With a proper understanding of the tools, the medium can truly become the message. By introducing these concepts in an innovative, 1:1 classroom environment and allowing them to speak with the voice with which they are most comfortable, communication will continue well beyond their 45‐minute period.
